Assuming the presidency in fall 2007, I learned quickly that Salem State is more than simply buildings and academic programs. Salem State’s people make our campus one of the premier universities on the North Shore. Our diverse student body, our highly qualified faculty and our dedicated librarians and staff distinguish Salem State in so many unique and important ways from other colleges in Massachusetts.
Our university is truly a community. As returning students can attest, Salem State is more than an institution of higher learning. It is a place where friendships are made, ideas are fostered and opportunities abound.
Part of a valuable college experience includes activities that occur outside the classroom. At Salem State, the opportunities to become involved are truly endless. I encourage you to join a group or club, become a student leader, participate in athletics, or attend university events that include our speaker series, theatre performances, gallery openings, athletic events, and social gatherings. Stay current with all that’s happening both on campus and in the community through our website—and choose ways to get involved.
Ours is a community of promise and I’d like to welcome you as an integral part of it.
