POL 271 - Introduction to Comparative Politics3 Credit(s) DIII This course introduces the frameworks and concepts of comparative politics using industrialized democracies, communist and ex-communist countries and less developed countries as case studies. Topics include the origins and development of different political, economic and social structures; key political issues in various countries and the impact of globalization. This course provides a background for students taking other comparative courses and will assist them analyzing unfamiliar political systems and being able to make independent judgments about them. Three lecture hours per week.
