SMS 178 - Introduction to Dance3 Credit(s) DI V Through lecture and discussion, this course provides a broad-based study of the cultural context, historical importance, and aesthetic ideologies of various dance forms existing in our multicultural world. An examination of dance as a catalyst for social awareness and change will be explored through choreographic works dealing with feminism, racism, and oppression. Relevant movement experiences serve to illuminate class discussions. Attendance required at dance concerts. Three lecture hours per week. Required for Dance Concentration and Dance Minor. Open to all students who have not received credit for SFL280.
