EDC 705 - Assessment and Instructional Practice

3 Credit(s) In this course, students are introduced to the core concepts of formative and summative assessment. Through an exploration of a variety of assessments, students gain an understanding of how formative and summative assessment support their instructional practice and student outcomes. Students will create assessments and ascertain when and why certain assessments are appropriate. Students will use the Backwards Design approach to lesson planning to ground standards-based lessons. Students will leverage their knowledge of both assessment and instructional practice in the creation of lesson plans throughout the course. Field-based assignments required.
