MUS 120 Fundamentals of Music

An introductory course in the fundamentals of music theory. It includes basic notation, scales, intervals, and chords. No previous musical experience is required. Open to all students. Required for all Music Majors and Music Minors who do not achieve a satisfactory grade on the fundamentals portion of the Music Theory Placement Examination. Satisfies a music theory requirement for the Music minor. Required for the Music Technology minor. It is strongly recommended that Music Majors take this course concurrently with MUS 107. This course must be passed with a grade of C- or better in order to register for MUS 132N. Three lecture hours per week. Offered every fall semester.
