HST 389 India and the World 3 Credit(s) This course offers an introduction to the history of India’s connections to the modern world. India has been connected to and often at the center of global networks of commerce, culture, migration, politics, colonialism, war and environmental challenges (monsoons and tsunamis) throughout modern history. Through a variety of historical sources and themes, this course studies the movement of people, goods, and ideas in and out of Indian sub-continent that historically linked the region to the world since the modern era. Three lecture hours per week.
