EDC 525 Capstone Seminar and Internship in Community Education

This capstone seminar and internship provides intensive guidance in planning, implementing, and assessing educational experiences for youth in community-based organizations (CBOs). Through direct participation in the education work of the CBO, students will bridge the gap between theory and practice as well as between academic and experiential learning. Requires a minimum of twelve hours/week of fieldwork in an approved CBO with a minimum of 150 hours total for the semester. A bi-weekly seminar will assist students in making the connection between their academic work and their internship experience, enhance knowledge and skills, and support reflective practice. Three lecture hours per week. Prerequisites: Completion of all Educational Studies-Community Education concentration requirements and permission of department chairperson.
