interlocking rhythmic patterns (Hindustani tala, Javanese irama, mbira patterns from Zimbabwe, etc.), and other elements of human music making such as ornamentation, improvisation, timbre, and coordination of social activities such as labor and dance. Required for all Music majors. Three lecture hours per week.
Prerequisite: MUS 333 and MUS 332.
