EDU 991K - Leadership for Excellence in Education3 Credit(s) This course emphasizes the role of shared leadership in centers and schools. It considers the role of formal leaders such as principals and directors, as well as the contribution of informal leaders including teachers, union officials and community members. Through the review of theory and research on leadership, the study of organizational culture and the principles necessary to support change, the course will help participants to understand how they may influence the direction and quality of the institutions where they work. Attention will be paid to the development of skills and habits which support effective leaders.
