CRJ 716 - Hate Crimes3 Credit(s) This course will examine the causes and consequences of hate crimes, as well as the social contexts within which they occur. We will explore why some individuals become motivated to commit violent acts based on their prejudices and intergroup rivalries. We will also analyze how various actors and conditions in the social environment influence the incidence of hate crimes, including hate groups, the media and political leaders. Three lecture hours per week.
