EDS 840 - Autism Spectrum Disorders: An Overview3 Credit(s) This course provides working professionals and families an overview of the characteristics, strengths and challenges of children identified with an Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). Topics will include historical background, medical diagnostic criteria, theories (medical, neurodevelopmental, biological, and environmental) in etiology, eligibility for special education services, and first-person accounts of individuals with ASD. Field hours required; 35 field-hours are needed for endorsement. Three lecture hours per week.
