EDU 745A - Literacy, Language and Diversity3 Credit(s) This course focuses on language structure and theories of first and second language acquisition as they relate to the literacy development and instruction of native speakers of English and multilingual learners. Candidates study word identification, structural analysis, and vocabulary, components of language (i.e., phonology, morphology, semantics, and syntax), the relationship between reading, writing, listening, and speaking, and approaches to adapting instructional materials to meet diverse needs, Requires a 25-hour pre-practicum field experience.
