NUR 446 Population and Community Health Nursing 4 Credit(s) This course focuses on population health, the social determinants of health and the role of the professional nurse in addressing population-level health risks at the primary, secondary and tertiary levels of prevention. Students apply theory related to epidemiology, holistic community assessment, environmental health, risk assessment and risk reduction, health policy, culture, health education, and health literacy to develop holistic interventions targeting populations and population aggregates. The role of the professional nurse in specific public health and community-based practice settings is examined. Four lecture hours per week.
Co/Prerequisites: NUR360A, NUR361, NUR409, NUR439 and NUR450.
