NUR 415B Public and Population Health Nursing

This course introduces the student to the theoretical foundations and practice of public health nursing. Concepts related to population health, health disparities, health promotion, and disease prevention are explored within the context of the Social Determinants of Health (SDH) in the classroom and clinical setting. As a diversity, power dynamics and social justice DPDS course, the course explores the
structures, systems, and policies within the U.S. that result in resource inequities and health disparities. Three (3) hours of lecture and 6 hours of clinical per week for 6 weeks. Additionally, students will attend required simulation laboratory activities throughout the semester for the reinforcement of classroom and clinical learning. Prerequisites: NUR321, NUR409 Co-requisites: NUR 412B.
