OCT 400N Pathways for Occupational Therapy Practice

This course is designed to transition students from the role of OTA to role of OTR. Students will understand the dynamics of the term “occupation” and explore the relationship that exists between occupation, person and environment. The history of occupational therapy, occupational therapy theoretical frameworks, and philosophical foundations of the profession will be emphasized. Concepts introduced will include clinical reasoning, evidence-based and client-centered practice, professional organizations, and documents pertaining to professional development. . Students will be expected to utilize self-directed and reflective inquiry. Limited to OCT majors. Two lecture hours per week. Not open to students who have received credit for OCT400. Prerequisites: All core and support courses must be completed before beginning professional level coursework. Co-requisites: OCT395 and OCT401.
