EDC 754 - Fieldwork Seminar IV: SEL for the Elementary Education Classroom

1.5 Credit(s) This field seminar, taken in conjunction with field-based methods courses on how to teach content in the elementary grades, focuses on how to create warm, nurturing, intellectually challenging, and educationally effective learning environments that promote the social and emotional development of children. The five lifelong skills of social-emotional learning (self-awareness, self-management, responsible decision-making, social awareness, and relationship skills) will be applied in candidates’ own lives and their lived classroom experiences as they learn how to weave SEL into the curriculum. This course includes field-based assignments. 1.5 lecture hours per week.
