EEC 800 - Creative Arts for Young Children

3 Credit(s) This course explores approaches to teaching creative arts in young children (birth-age 8). Participants will learn about the visual arts, music, movement, and drama activities that foster child development. Planning and implementing developmentally, culturally, and linguistically-appropriate experiences will be emphasized throughout the course. The importance of a process-oriented approach, and the inclusion of sensory experiences and play in a creative arts curriculum will be explored. Field based assignments are required. Three lecture hours per week.
