EDU 845 - Literacy Leadership, Collaboration and Coaching3 Credit(s) This course focuses on collaborative leadership, organizational change, and adult learning theories that support the literacy specialist in working with the wider school community and provides an introduction to literacy coaching for the experienced educator. Candidates will engage in coaching activities (e.g., mentoring, planning and leading professional development, developing schoolwide vision based on data) in a school setting, will develop awareness of the federal and state policy decisions that influence students’ literacy opportunities in schools, and will understand how to advocate for needed organizational and instructional changes to promote effective literacy instruction. Requires a 25-hour pre-practicum field experience.
Pre-requisites: EDU 840S and EDU 840P or EDU 741C and EDU 817C or permission of Program Coordinator.
