EDC 734 - Field Seminar IV: SEL for the Early Childhood Classroom

1.5 Credit(s) This field seminar, taken in conjunction with field-based methods courses on how to teach content in the early primary grades, focuses on how to create warm, nurturing, intellectually challenging, and educationally effective learning environments that promote the social and emotional development of young children. The five lifelong skills of social-emotional learning (self-awareness, self-management, responsible decision-making, social awareness, and relationship skills) will be applied in candidates’ own lives and their lived classroom experiences as they learn how to weave SEL into the curriculum. This course includes field-based asssignments.1.5 lecture hours per week.
