EDU 840S - Practicum Seminar for the Reading Specialist License

3 Credit(s) This course builds upon the knowledge-base and experiences gained in prior reading specialist graduate coursework addressing helping all children master grade-level literacy expectations.The course addresses clinical and classroom aspects of literacy assessment and instruction as well as literacy leadership. Emphasis will be placed on meeting the needs of diverse learners through individual tutoring and small-group instruction. Opportunities to improve literacy coaching and intervention skills are provided through collaborative coaching conversations, the use of structured protocols, and instructor feedback. Aligned with the Reading Specialist Subject Matter (SMK) guidelines.
