CIV 110 Writing for Civic Engagement

This course invites students to develop their writing skills as they advocate for issues of importance to them and to North Shore communities. Students will study, analyze and create forms of writing to advocate for social change to a variety of public audiences including letters to the editor, social media communications, news releases and position papers. These projects will prepare students to write in academic contexts, the workplace, policy settings and the civic sphere. This class fulfills W-I requirement in the general education curriculum. Three lecture hours.
