SWK 344 Horses to Yoga: Alternative Modalities for Practice

This course offers an engaging exploration of twelve alternative therapeutic modalities commonly used by social workers and mental health professionals to enhance traditional talk therapy. Students will gain hands-on experience with various enjoyable approaches, including light yoga, meditation, art therapy, and interactions with therapeutic animals. Guest speakers with specialized expertise will provide deeper insights into these practices. The course emphasizes holistic well-being, addressing the physical, emotional, psychological, relational, and spiritual aspects of health. Through a blend of experiential learning and self-reflection, students will practice techniques that support personal and professional well-being. The course includes three weekly lecture hours. 

Prerequisites:  SWK101 or PSY101 or SOC110.
