BIO 321 Marine Ecology

Marine ecology is the study of the interactions between organisms and their environment and how such interactions determine the distribution and abundance of species. This course will examine the relationships and dynamics in the marine environment and how marine species are organized into communities and function as ecosystems. Students will explore major marine ecosystems from estuaries to coral reefs and human impacts on the marine world through a combination of lecture, field studies, and laboratory work. Three lecture hours per week. One three-hour laboratory per week. 
Prerequisites: BIO131, OR BIO121, and BIO218  or permission of Department Chairperson.
