Objectives
The initial license option of the MAT Middle School Mathematics program is designed for those seeking to obtain initial license to teach middle school mathematics (5-8) in conjunction with their master’s degree. Program Requirements
All candidates must
- pass the Communication and Literacy MTEL prior to admission
- complete a minimum of 39 credit hours of graduate course work (described below)
- pass the Middle School Mathematics MTEL by the time 15 credits of mathematics courses in the program have been completed
Students who have not completed a course in Adolescent Psychology prior to enrolling in the program will be required to complete such a course prior to enrolling in the practicum. The course may be taken at either the graduate or undergraduate level and will not count towards the credits required for degree.
