Teacher Education Minor

The Teacher Education minor prepares student majoring in an arts and sciences discipline for Initial licensure as teachers, as part of the integrated bachelor’s/master’s (4 plus 1) programs for the following content areas and grade levels: Art (PK-8 or 5-12) English (8-12) History (5-8 or 8-12); Mathematics (5-8 or 8-12); Physical Education (Elementary or Secondary); Theatre Arts (PK-12). Requires 21-30 credits plus 3-6 credits in support courses, depending on primary major.

Teacher Education minors must complete the following courses (21-30 credits total):
One of the following content methods sequences (6 credits total):
English: EDC 770 and EDC 771 Methods of Teaching English I and II
History: EDC 772 and EDC 773 Methods of Teaching History I and II
Mathematics: EDC 774 and EDC775 Methods of Teaching Mathematics I and II
Art: EDC 776 and EDC 777 Methods of Teaching Visual Arts I and II
Physical Education: EDC 780 and EDC781 Methods of Teaching Elementary Physical Education and
Methods of Teaching Secondary Physical Education
Theatre: EDC 784 and EDC 785 Methods of Teaching Theatre I and II
American Government and Psychology Support Courses (6 credits):
