Chinese Studies Minor

This minor is comprised of 15 credits, including completion of the elementary-level Chinese language sequence (CHI 101-102), plus elective courses. Other courses related to China may be substituted for the elective courses listed, with permission of the department chairperson. Required courses (6 credits): CHI 101: Elementary Chinese I, CHI 102: Elementary Chinese II. Elective courses (9 credits), Choose three: ART 333A: Asian Art (Not Offered Every Year), CHI 101: Elementary Mandarin Chinese I, CHI 102: Elementary

Mandarin Chinese II, HST 240: History of China, HST 298: Dalai, Kung Fu, Sumo, and Fengshu: History of Buddhism, Confucianism,

Shintoism, and Taoism, HST 299: Samurai, Geisha, Emperor, and Concubine: Chinese and Japanese Historical Movies and Novels, PHL 310N: Philosophy and Religion of the Eastern World, POL 377: Chinese Politics, WLC 130: Chinese Culture, It can also include study abroad courses.
