Arabic Studies Minor

This minor is comprised of 15 credits, including completion of the elementary-level Arabic language sequence (ARA101-102), plus elective courses. Other courses related to the Arabic World may be substituted for the listed elective courses with the permission of the department chairperson. Required courses (6 credits): ARA101: Elementary Arabic I, ARA102: Elementary Arabic II. Elective courses (9 credits), Choose three: ARA201: Intermediate Arabic I, ARA202: Intermediate Arabic II, ARA301: Advanced Arabic I, ARA302: Advanced Arabic II, GPH237: Geography of the Middle East, HST237: History of the Middle East, HST372: History of Islamic Civilization, POL375: Politics of the Middle East, WLC: Perspectives on World Cultures, if the topic deals with the Arabic world. It can also include study abroad courses.
