Program Objectives
The Master of Arts in Teaching English is a thirty-three point five to thirty-nine point five (33-39) hour degree program offering candidates opportunities for reflection and research in principles and practices for instruction of English language and literature, with particular emphasis on fieldwork experiences. Successful completion of the program leads to fulfillment of Commonwealth of Massachusetts requirements for initial licensure to teach English at the middle and secondary level.
Additional Admissions Requirements
A passing score on the Massachusetts Tests for Educator Licensure (MTEL) communication and literacy portion and content test for English.
Bachelor’s degree in English. Students without a BA in English, should apply to the MA/MAT English program.
