The Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) Adult-Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner program offers flexibility and engagement through online and hybrid courses with accelerated, 24-month and part-time, 36-month options. The MSN program will help you:

develop your knowledge of holistic treatment of adults across the lifespan,
expand your clinical expertise through classes such as advanced health assessment and pathophysiology,
apply research that drives better patient outcomes, and
gain the skills to lead change through value-based care, policy, and community health initiatives.

Admission Policies

Program Requirements

Upon acceptance into the program, you will complete a tentative Plan of Study in consultation with the program coordinator. You must request that any transfer credits be considered at this time. Please note that no more than three courses taken at Salem State University before admission can be counted towards this program. You should meet regularly with the program coordinator to discuss your progress and revise your plan of study as needed.

Total Credits: 45

All students in the MSN/Adult-Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner program must achieve a B or greater in each of the following courses: NUR 812 , NUR 813 , NUR 817 , NUR 833 , NUR 835 , NUR 836F , NUR 837 , and NUR 838F . The School of Graduate Studies repeat policy does not apply to these courses. Any student who does not achieve a grade of B or greater in these nine courses will be dismissed from the Nursing Program without the opportunity to repeat.

Students who successfully complete this program will be eligible for board certification from the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) in Adult-Gerontology Primary Care Nursing (AGPCNP-BC).
