SOC 316 - Religion and Society3 Credit(s) DIII This course studies religion from a sociological perspective and deals with the role of the sacred in society and in the lives of individuals. Topics include myth and belief, conversion, organization and leadership; primitive and non-Western religion; and contemporary issues such as church and state, religious fundamentalism, cults, Black and Hispanic churches, social justice advocacy, etc. Three lecture hours per week. Prerequisite: SOC 201 or permission of Department Chairperson.
