SMS 178 - Introduction to Dance3 Credit(s) DI This course provides a broad-based study of the aesthetics of dance and its history through lecture and discussion. Presented against the backdrop of 20th century American modern dance, this overview includes an introduction to ballet, vernacular dance forms, and other dance topics. Relevant movement experiences serve to illuminate some class discussions. Attendance required at dance concerts. Three lecture hours per week. Required course for Dance Concentration and Dance Minor. Open to all students who have not received credit for SFL280.
