A study of merchant shipping, fishing and naval forces in North America from colonial times to the present. Emphasis will be placed on the role of shipping in the development of the nations of North America and the effect of modern activities in ecology and fishery management. Three lecture hours per week. Offered in alternate years. Not open to students who have received credit for HIS356.
