EDU 745A - Literacy, Language and Diversity3 Credit(s) This course focuses on language structure and theories of first and second language acquisition as they relate to the literacy development of native speakers of English and English language learners. Topics include phonetics, phonology, morphology, orthography, semantics and syntax. Implications for teaching word identification, structural analysis and vocabulary to linguistically diverse students are stressed. Requires a 25-hour-pre-practicum field experience.
