EDC 742 - Mathematics in Elementary Grades3 Credit(s) This course will offer experiences in teaching concepts in numeration, computation, estimation, problem solving, time and space, geometry, modeling, measurement and graphs, and inference, Developmentally appropriate current approaches to teaching mathematics in the elementary grades will be presented. Emphasis will be given to the “how and why” in order to support teachers as they help students become actively involved in doing mathematics via learning experiences that facilitate discovery. Field based assignments are required.
Pre-requisite: EDC 406 Literacy Development II
Co-requisites: EDC 754 ; Admission to the combined undergraduate/graduate licensure program.
