SOC 206 Fundamentals of Statistical Analysis in Sociology 3 Credit(s) DIII Q An introduction to the use of statistical analyses in quantitative sociological research. Emphasis will be placed upon those techniques most frequently used by sociologists including the operationalization of sociological variables, the use of appropriate levels of measurement and their related statistics. Also, quantitative thinking is developed through computer-based exercises and manipulation of data sets. A philosophical and theoretical context of Sociological research will provide the background for learning the fundamental techniques of statistical analysis. Three lecture hours per week, and laboratory work outside of class. Prerequisites: SOC 110 , MAT 108 or permission of Department Chairperson.
