POL 378 The VIetnam War and Its Contemporary Legacies 3 Credit(s) HP This course examines the origins and evolution of the VIetnam War (or the American War to the VIetnamese) and its contemporary legacies in both countries. Topics include (from both perspectives) cultural and historical differences which contributed to the outbreak of the war, decision-making processes; execution of the war; popular reactions to the war; post-war veterans’ experiences; retrospective perceptions of the war as well as the war’s lasting impact on the political-economic structure of each country and the international system. Three lecture hours per week.
