ATR 712 - Electrophysical Agents

4 Credit(s) This course provides both theoretical and clinical bases for the use of electrophysical agents as an adjunct to standard care in the rehabilitation process. The course emphasizes use of electromagnetic and acoustical energy to create physiologic responses within human tissue. The interventions will be discussed within the context of the principles of tissue healing, neurophysiology of pain, and neurophysiology of muscle performance. The associated physics, physiological effects, indications, contraindications, and application technique for each electrophysical agent will be discussed through the lecture and psychomotor components of this course. Limited to students enrolled in the Master of Science in Athletic Training program or by permission from the program coordinator.
