The curriculum helps student to build skills in the following areas: Strategic planning, team-building, supervising, coordinating, communicating, and understanding the needs of multiple stakeholders.  The department offers minors in Entrepreneurship and General Management.  Majors can choose to specialize in one of the five concentrations offered:  Entrepreneurship, General Management, Hospitality, Human Resource Management and International Business.  Entrepreneurship Concentration The Entrepreneurship Concentration provides students with the fundamental knowledge required to start and maintain a successful business. The instructional program integrates the experience of founders and employees of entrepreneurial ventures to provide a “real world” view of small business management. Students are required to complete an internship that allows them to experience the day-to-day operations of a start-up venture. General Management Concentration General Management is a course of study that prepares students for supervisory positions. The curriculum helps students develop their skills in managing people, solving business problems, and effectively applying resources to achieve business goals. Students also learn how to use strategic planning and models to predict business outcomes and to make decisions that are socially responsible. Human Resources Management Concentration The Human Resources Management concentration focuses on skill building in the areas of employee selection and development, team-building and conflict resolution.  Students are also exposed to the equal opportunity employment environments, related laws and standard policies. Hospitality Management Concentration The Hospitality Management concentration is designed to provide students with specific knowledge and skills required for management-level employment in the industry. The curriculum provides instruction related to specific areas including hotel, restaurant and casino management, as well as conference and even planning. Students are required to complete an internship in their chosen specialization. International Business Concentration The International Business concentration is designed to provide students with the specific knowledge and analytical skills they need to take advantage of the opportunities created by the globalization of business activities. The program draws from a rich liberal arts education combined with basic knowledge in all the functional areas of business administration Students in this concentration are strongly encouraged to gain proficiency in a foreign language and to participate in a study abroad program.
