A Marine Studies minor consists of a minimum of 5 courses (15-20 semester hours) which are to be completed within the framework of the two options described below:

Marine Science Option
Students can choose any three marine science courses from those listed below and at least one course from those listed under the Marine Studies option. In addition, students must complete IDS 460 - Seminar in Marine Studies . Marine Studies Option

* Course offered through the Marine Studies Consortium; see below.
Students can replace a course in either option with a Marine oriented Directed Study within an appropriate department, subject to the joint approval of the Department Chairperson and the Marine Studies Coordinator.
Salem State University is a member of the Marine Studies Consortium. Students must enroll through both Salem State University and the Consortium in order to receive credits for those courses offered through the Consortium.
