EDU 745A - Reading and Language: Theory and Research3 Credit(s) This course focuses on language structure and theories of first and second language acquisition as they relate to the literacy development of native speakers of English and English language learners. Students study phonetics, phonology, morphology, orthography, semantics, and syntax. Implications for teaching word identification, structural analysis, and vocabulary are stressed. Requires a 25-hour pre-practicum field experience.
