OCT 402 Clinical Reasoning & Professional Judgment 3 Credit(s) This course will explore the components of professional reasoning. Students will develop an appreciation and understanding of the process involved in making sound, evidence-based, ethical client-care decisions. Exposure to models of professional reasoning with emphasis placed on formulating skills that enable students to comprehend vital connections between the professional decision-making process and one’s own professional development including reflection on professional practice experiences in current role as occupational therapy assistants. This course will support the development of professional reasoning skills to develop occupational therapy treatment plans that will include problem identification, goal setting, frame of reference identification, and the decision-making involved for choosing appropriate and safe treatment interventions. Three lecture hours per week.
