SWK 270 Understanding Privilege, Oppression and Cultural Competence in Social Work 3 Credit(s) DPDS The purpose of this course is to explore the history and impact of multisystemic privilege and oppression on individuals, groups, communities, and institutions. Students will be encouraged to reflect on their multiple social identities and engage in intergroup dialogue. Readings, audio and visual resources, class discussions, and written assignments aim to assist students in developing culturally competent social work values and techniques. Three lecture hours per week. Required of all Social Work majors and minors.
