EEC 301 Social Studies Curriculum and Pedagogy in Early Education and Care 3 Credit(s) This course is designed for candidates who work with children aged 0-8. This course engages candidates in practicing evidence-based, best practice instructional methods for teaching culturally sustaining social studies in preschool settings. Candidates will work toward gaining knowledge and skills needed to design standards-based, developmentally, culturally, and linguistically appropriate, inquiry and play-based, inclusive learning experiences and assessments. Candidates will learn how to integrate antiracist, anti biased social studies content across curriculum. Three lecture hours per week. Field-based assignments are required.
Prerequisites: EEC105; Permission of the Department Chairperson.
