HST 293 Chinese Medicine: Yoga, Acupuncture, Herb & Seppuku

This course covers the development of Chinese medicine and its influences upon China and other countries of both past and present. The course will use Meridian, Acupuncture, Herb Medicine, Chinese Yoga, and Seppuku as four critical examples to demonstrate the essence of Chinese medicine.  The course studies how medicine plays an important role in changing human behaviors and how social institutions transform as a result of medical progress. The course highlights the unique role of Chinese medicine in improving people’s health and quality of life as well as raising public developmental and institutional confidence in social growth. Three lecture hours per week.
