Objectives
The initial license option of the MAT Middle School Mathematics program is designed for those seeking to obtain initial license to teach middle school mathematics (5-8) in conjunction with their master’s degree. Program Requirements
All candidates must
- complete a course in Adolescent Psychology
- must pass the Communication and Literacy MTEL prior to admission
- complete a minimum of 39 credit hours of graduate course work (described below)
- pass the Middle School Mathematics MTEL by the time 15 credits of mathematics courses in the program have been completed
Course Requirements
Education Courses (9 credits) Core Mathematics courses (15 credits)
Content-Based Methods Course (3 credits)
Practicum and Seminar (6 credits)
Electives (choose two, 6 credits)
