Certificate in Human Rights and Young People

This certificate will document that students demonstrate proficiency about what human rights are and how to use them when working children and youth in ways that will be developmentally appropriate and rights-respecting. Students will be required to gain knowledge about human rights education, children’s psycho-social development, what human rights are, and how they pertain to the provision, protection, and participation of young people. They will have options of how to build their certificate to strengthen their intended career goals. This certificate will consist of 15 credit hours, or five three-credit courses, 2 of which are required and three from a set of electives, two of which can be transferred upon approval.

Additional Notes:
Students who have taken either PSY 251 or PSY 252 cannot take PSY 218.
Up to two other relevant elective courses could be considered from SSU or from other academic institutions upon request, review, and approval.
